Port Sector Major Achievements: 2006-07

Major Berth Development Projects Completed:

· Oil Jetty and Single Point Mooring (SPM) of 12 million tonne per annum (MTPA) capacity at an estimated cost of Rs. 750 crore at Vadinar, Kandla Port Trust (KPT);

· Third container Terminal, JNPT of 15.6 MTPA capacity at an estimated cost of Rs. 900 crore;

· SPM, IOC of 15 MTPA capacity at an estimated cost of Rs. 1178 crore at Paradip Port;

Channel Deepening Projects:

· Navigational Channel Phase I, KPT at an estimated cost of Rs. 29.41 crore'

· Inner Harbour First Stage, Visakhapatnam Port Trust at an estimated cost of Rs. 21.5 crore;

Rail Connectivity:

· Visakhapatnam road connectivity project completed at an estimated cost of Rs. 94 crore;

· Two rail connectivity projects commissioned at Kandla an JN Port at an estimated cost of Rs. 550 crore and Rs. 69 crore respectively;

Sethusamundram Ship Channel Project:

· 12.8 million Cubic metres dredged;

IT Infrastruture:

· Port Community System being implemented in all major ports and switchover to paperless transaction by December 2007;
